(Stabilized Vit-C)
Aquatic animals lack the ability to synthesize Vitamin C (ascorbic
acid) as they do not possess the enzyme L Gulunolactone Oxidase
which catalyses the final reaction step in the ascorbic acid synthesis
from glucose or other simple precursors. Ascorbic Acid is essential
for normal physiological functioning its essential that it has to
be supplied through feed. Ascorbic Acid is sensitive to light, heat
and metals and atmospheric oxygen and gets oxidized. The oxidized
form of Ascorbic Acid is dehydroascorbic acid, which further gets
oxidised to irreversible form of diketogulonic acid. Though the
dehyroascorbic acid has some properties of Ascorbic Acid but diketogulonic
acid is biologically inactive. Hence, stabilized form of vitamins
have to be used in aquaculture
Ascorbic Acid is essential for normal growth, heath and reproduction.
It is required for the optimal activity of several enzymes involved
in hydroxylation reactions and in the metabolism of several nutrients
and pharmacological agents in the body. It helps in the formation
of collagen and wound healing. The above functions are carried out
in the presence of Ascorbic Acid in its active form, hence, its very
essential that the animal gets the right amount and right kind of
vitamin C leads to slow growth, increased susceptibility to diseases,
scoliosis lordosis etc.
SHRIMP-C is the choice of aqua farmers and it has been blended scientifically
to deliver the right amount of Vitamin C to the shrimps.
