A broad spectrum disinfectant

Chlorination has been widely used technique for disinfection of water in aquaculture operation. Chlorine as Sodium Hypochlorite is perhaps the most commonly misused chemical treatment. The chlorination of water still gives rise to lot of problems. Although chlorine is used to remove organic matter from the system it will not do that completely. Scientific research has pointed out that there is a possibility of formation of persistant chlorophenols in marginally chlorinated ponds. Moreover, chlorine is more effective against bacteria than fungi leading to the overgrowth of latter in treated ponds due to absence of competition. The presence of magnesium and iron in the water makes breakpoint chlorination impossible. The continuous presence of chlorine and chloramines might also interfere in more general sense of taste. DISFECTAL provides safe and effective alternative to the problematic chlorine treatments.

COMPOSITION
: A mixture of peroxy components blended with inorganic and natrum salts.

ADVANTAGES
: The specific advantages of DISFECTAL over chlorine are

DISFECTAL
CHLORINE
Effective against broad range of bacteria, fungi and virus
More efficient against bacteria
Safe to the animals hence can be used during culture period
Cannot be used during culture
Effective in presence of organic loads
Ineffective in presence of organic loads, iron and manganese etc
Does no affect plankton

Has negative effect on plankton

No environmental residues hence no problems for exports

Development of persistant toxic chlorophenols

Does no affect DO

May have negative impact on DO

Low non target organism toxicity

Toxic poetential is high
